Hello fellow wanderers, it’s Scotty here!
If you’re anything like me, you love a good adventure. But here’s the catch: you’re also a gadget enthusiast who thrives on tech during your travels. And why wouldn’t you? Tech and travel go together like fish and chips, or Ethiopians and their Injera, am I right?
So today, let’s delve into crafting the perfect packing list for your week-long escapade. Grab your notepad, fire up your favorite note-taking app, or just bookmark this page because you’re going to want to refer back to this when you’re packing for your next big adventure.
1. Essential Tech Gadgets:
Smartphone: An absolute no-brainer. It’s your navigation system, communication device, music player, and even your camera, all in one sleek package.
Portable Charger: There’s nothing worse than a dead battery when you’re about to capture that breathtaking sunset. Trust me, I’ve been there! Buy on Amazon
Travel Adapter: Because what’s worse than reaching your dream destination and realizing your charger can’t fit into the local sockets? Buy on Amazon
Laptop/Tablet: If you’re planning on blogging, editing photos/videos, or keeping in touch with work (even though we hope you don’t have to), this one’s non-negotiable. I use an MacBook Pro and I would recommend always having a simple laptop stand.
Noise-Cancelling Headphones: Whether it’s for your favorite travel playlist or to drown out the crying baby on your flight, these are a lifesaver. I like Sony so I recommend them however I also have the Apple Airpods which i also think work well. Buy on Amazon
2. Clothing & Personal Items:
Packing your clothes is just as much science as it is art. Eve is usually responsible for this category however, always consider the weather of the place you’re visiting. That said, here are some essentials:
A week’s worth of underwear and socks, 2-3 pairs of pants/shorts, 5-6 T-shirts, a pair of good walking shoes, swimwear, a light jacket or sweater, and a formal outfit (just in case you decide to hit a fancy restaurant or theater).
Remember, when in doubt, go for layers. They’re versatile and can accommodate a variety of climates.
3. Toiletries:
Travel-size everything! Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant. Don’t forget your sunscreen, folks!
4. Important Documents:
Make digital and physical copies of your passport, ID, travel insurance, and any other vital documents. Store them safely and separately. I always keep a copy on some cloud storage service, Google Docs, Evernote, Box.com, all these work great.

5. Snacks:
As someone who’s experienced Ethiopian Teff injera, Indian samosas, and African Jollof rice, I can’t stress enough the importance of local cuisine. But sometimes, a granola bar or your favorite snack can be a real lifesaver during long transfers or delayed flights.
Now, if you’ve been nodding along with this list, you’re well on your way to mastering the art of packing. Remember, the key to a successful journey isn’t just about where you go or what tech you bring, but how well prepared you are for the adventure that awaits.
Pack light, pack smart, and your trip will be nothing short of extraordinary. The world is waiting for you, my friends. And as we say in our community, the more you see, the more you learn, the more you become.
Happy travels!
