Antelope Canyon, with its undulating, wave-like sandstone walls and mystical play of light, has been a long-standing item on our bucket list. This year, my fiancé and I finally decided it was time to embark on this extraordinary adventure.

Tech Essentials

Navigating the narrow passages and capturing the surreal beauty of the canyons required some basic tech gear. Here’s what we used:

1. IPhone 14: Since videos aren’t permitted inside the canyon, we relied entirely on our iPhone 14 for photography. The excellent camera quality was instrumental in capturing the subtle shifts of light and shadow on the sandstone.
2. Slim Power Bank: The long day of exploration and photography drained our phone battery pretty quickly, so having a slim power bank for recharging was a lifesaver.
3. Cellphone Cleaning Wipes: Dust is a given in these parts. Keeping our phone lens clean with wipes made a huge difference in the clarity of our photos.

The Experience

Upper Antelope Canyon:

Upon arriving at Upper Antelope Canyon, we were promptly whisked away on a bumpy drive to the entry point by our tour company. The walk through the canyon itself was relatively short, but the towering walls carved by time, wind, and water made it feel like stepping into another world.

Due to the popularity of the site, the canyon can be quite crowded, which means you need to keep moving and may not have much time to linger at each spot. However, the real advantage comes with the tour guides who are well-versed in the art of canyon photography. They can capture images from the best angles, ensuring you return with some truly stunning photos.

Lower Antelope Canyon:

Lower Antelope Canyon was, in our opinion, the star of the show. This part of the journey started with a short walk from the tour guide’s location. Lower Antelope felt a bit more intimate and less rushed, allowing us to truly soak in the incredible surroundings.

If we had to choose one, we’d recommend the Lower Antelope for its unique formations and more relaxed pace.

Final Thoughts

Exploring the Antelope Canyons was an unforgettable experience, one that was made even more special by the technology that allowed us to capture these moments in crisp detail. We left with a deeper appreciation for nature’s artistry and a camera roll full of memories.
